Get to know Amanda

Hi there!  I’m Amanda.  I grew up in a small town in New Jersey.  I was always an imaginative kid.  My mom told me that she would often find me totally entertained in my room, making up stories for my dolls and stuffed animals.  Drawing, making sculptures out of Play-Doh, rock tumblers, friendship bracelet weaving patterns, just a few things that bring back warm memories of my creative childhood.  I was really blessed to be able to follow an “out of the box” path to adulthood, which led me to New York, where I attended college and studied Fine Arts and Accessories design.  I now enjoy a career in fashion accessories design for a wonderful company.  On the side, I have a small jewelry business where I create jewelry and host beading parties for kids!  I just had a party of eighteen 6-year-old girl scouts!  Seeing their smiles after I had helped them bead their own bracelets truly warmed my heart.  I want to be able to share similar experiences with our own children.
My childhood love of riding my bike (with OF COURSE, that cute little white basket with the pink, plastic daisies on the front and… oh yes, it does not stop there.  C’mon, I’m no amateur in accessorizing!  Handle tassels - that extra bit of flair that all kids needed whilst riding to their best friend’s house) has morphed into staying healthy & riding my indoor bike.   I also love to get out with our doggo, Sully, and go for long walks.
I work as a freelance accessories designer and love the job! I am lucky to be able to work most of my time remotely, at a wonderful company who has proven to be very gracious and understanding in my time there!
Kids seem to gravitate towards me.  At friend’s BBQs and parties, I am always the first to be on the floor playing with the kids, from building mega magnetic block sculptures to just a simple kiddo manicure, seeing their smiles, their giggles bring me such happiness.  I have always imagined that I would be a great Mom. Unapologetically goofy and silly, I would want my child to feel the same freedom that I felt when I was growing up.
